Less waste, more efficiency: Hengst Air Filtration Denmark’s winning move
“Implementing an automated waste handling unit has proven to be a very worthwhile investment for us,” says Lucas Kamper, Technical Manager at Hengst Air Filtration Denmark A/S. “By choosing the Lundberg Tech WasteTech we have streamlined waste handling and added extra convenience to our daily operations.”
Hengst Air Filtration Denmark, based in Nakskov and established in 1991, manufactures filters for process air filtration used across industries such as food and beverages, powder coating, plasma and laser cutting, sandblasting, and more. Since 2016, the company has been part of the German Hengst Group, and in 2023 it adopted the name Hengst Air Filtration Denmark A/S.
For years, the Hengst team faced time-consuming manual waste handling, which prompted them to look for ways to optimise their production setup. After initial contact with Lundberg Tech in 2022, discussions resumed in 2023, followed by a site visit to identify the right solution. In 2024, the decision was made to invest in automated waste handling. The impact has been transformative.
When asked about their previous process, Kamper explains:
“We had a large volume of waste and handled everything manually. It took one to two hours a day to empty waste bins for each of our five production lines. That adds up to a lot of man-hours that could be used far more effectively.”
On the benefits of the new system, Kamper smiles:
“Today, the WasteTech cuts the waste, reducing its volume to about one-tenth of the original size. We only need to change the waste bag once or twice a day. This saves up to two hours of work daily that we used to spend on waste handling.”
Kamper concludes:
“I estimate the return on investment at around 10 months. We are very pleased with this and with the productivity boost. Our operators are happier too; they can focus on their main tasks without worrying about physical strain from waste handling.”
Looking ahead, Hengst Air Filtration Denmark may expand the system with an additional Granulator to meet growing production demands. Together with Lundberg Tech, they will continue to explore the best solutions for future needs.
