FROM DUST TO GREEN: LS Direct implements Lundberg Tech solutions
LS Direct Marketing and Digital XPress, leading names in digitally driven direct mail and the digital print industry, rely on Lundberg Tech’s waste handling solutions to streamline their production. Their journey with Lundberg Tech began in 2019 when they installed a WasteTech 140. Pleased with the results, they added another WasteTech 140 and a WasteTech 200 the following year. Recognizing the significant improvement these automated solutions brought to their operations, LS Direct invited Lundberg Tech Inc. for a site visit in 2021 to explore expanding their waste handling process to a Central System. Additionally, the efficiencies gained with a whole house system would more than offset the costs.
This collaboration led to the installation of a Central System in late 2022, a decision made over a competitor’s offering. Chris Knoebel, Co-Founder and EVP stated:
“We liked the Lundberg Tech design better than the one from their competition, it was more polished for sure. The craftsmanship of the components is excellent and the installations we looked at were first class. This system has delivered on its promise.”
LS Direct, established in 1997, partnered with Digital Xpress in 2010 to become a thriving digital print shop with more than 50 years of combined printing experience. They offer comprehensive digital printing, mail-house, and bindery services.
Chris Knoebel continues:
“The Central System from Lundberg Tech has been life-changing for us. We now have no dust around the machines, the system is easy to operate and handles our waste – at the same time it fits well with our recycling philosophy.”
Environmental sustainability is crucial to LS Direct. They actively recycle and reuse their own paper waste, working closely with their recycler and paper supplier, Sustana, to implement sustainable circular processes. These efforts include innovative methods like using river water to make paper and returning the water cleaner than it was taken out. Renewable electricity is used in the paper making process.
Lundberg Tech’s products support LS Direct and Digital Xpress’ commitment to sustainability by enhancing its green transformation efforts. Continuous improvement in vacuum waste solutions with better material separation and optimized work conditions helps customers achieve their environmental goals.
Chris Knoebel appreciates this shared focus, concluding:
“The aim is to deliver timely direct mail for our clients while being environmentally responsible through recycling.”
