Smarter and more efficient production with automated waste handling at Schulz FLEXGROUP
Schulz FLEXGROUP GmbH is a second-generation family-run company specialising in printing and finishing of primary packaging. With 117 employees across two sites in Baden-Baden and Roth, the company serves industries ranging from cosmetics to technical applications, with pharmaceuticals as its largest sector. Thanks to continuous investment in modern machinery, Schulz FLEXGROUP keeps pace with its customers’ growing demands.
To further improve production efficiency, the company also turned its focus to waste management. In September 2022, Technical Director Vincent Lavorato contacted Lundberg Tech for a trim handling solution. After an on-site visit the final setup included a WasteTech 140-140U for one slitter rewinder.
“I visited a French factory using a Lundberg Tech system,” recalls Vincent Lavorato. “Seeing it run smoothly, non-stop, really convinced me that this was the right solution for us.”
Schulz FLEXGROUP placed the order in November 2022. Only a few months later, they upgraded the setup with a retrofit TubeBag system, allowing waste bags to be changed without interrupting production.
“Before, we used a Venturi system. Trims were blown into a box, which was noisy, dusty and inefficient. We had a huge volume of waste, lots of internal and external transports, and high energy consumption,” explains Lavorato.
“With Lundberg Tech’s automated waste handling, our waste volume is down to just 10% of what it was. There is no more dust thanks to the integrated filters, and production keeps running even during bag changes. It means less waste handling, lower energy use, and better recycling opportunities.”
Today (October 2025), Schulz FLEXGROUP’s waste handling solution remains a vital part of production. The combination of Lundberg Tech’s tailored approach, strong engineering support, and long experience in process optimisation has had a clear and positive impact on the installation.
“Investing in Lundberg Tech was a future-oriented decision that fully supports our goals,” concludes Managing Director Cordula Schulz.
